Waterloo Lay Leaders Day

Approximately 60 lay leaders gathered in Waterloo yesterday for a day of reflection on what it means to be a lay leader in church today and to discuss strategic planning in the parish. I thought it a great day and invite those who participated to leave their comments on this blog. Click the comment button below. There were so many conversations about the need to use social media that I will be very interested to see how many use this vehicle to converse. Your comment will not show up immediately but will after a time delay.

Blessings.

Richard

  1. What I heard was the need to communicate among parishes (and deaneries) in areas that bring layity in touch with layity. All of our communication now seems to be through the clergy, or official and formal meetings (like synod) and innumerable committees of the diocese. Perhaps this is where social media can play a part. We are now isolated by our parish "walls", and consequently always depending on top-down leadership, authority, direction

  2. Thank you, Archdeacon Richard, for facilitating this lay leadership day. It was helpful to hear from people from other parts of the deanery and diocese. We appreciated being able to contribute our thoughts and opinions in the larger group setting.
